About us
Our story
Fohlenweid Jacober began as a small hobby project in 1995 and has grown every year since. We have lived in France all year round for about fifteen years, and Fohlenweid has become our profession.
Our farm lies in the Bresse, a plain beyond the Jura that offers ideal conditions for raising young horses naturally. The herds have plenty of room across around 100 hectares of pasture. Groups organised by year of birth allow the horses to develop natural social bonds.
Our philosophy
Natural rearing
Our foals grow up in a natural environment. Contact with other horses and ample exercise on extensive pastures form the basis for healthy, balanced horses.
Knowledge and experience
Roger bred Franches-Montagnes horses as a hobby while working as a vet. Fohlenweid enabled him to sell his practice, but his professional knowledge remains invaluable. Daily checks, worming and minor ailments can therefore be handled expertly on site. As committed Franches-Montagnes breeders for 25 years, we have also gained extensive practical experience in husbandry and handling.
Sustainability
As an agricultural business, sustainable management is very important to us. The farm is certified organic, and we invest a great deal of time and energy in maintaining our pastures.
Our values
Animal welfare
The wellbeing of our animals comes first. We provide appropriate husbandry, excellent veterinary care and attentive support.
Quality
High standards throughout the farm, from feeding to stable hygiene, are a matter of course for us.
Trust
Transparency and open communication are the basis of trusted relationships with our clients and partners.
